This catalogue accompanied Tycjan Knut’s first solo exhibition with Cadogan Contemporary in November 2021. This new series of works, entitled Light Matters, elevates the effect of optical illusion found in Knut’s previous practices. The catalogue also features detail photographs that showcase the texture and materiality of the paintings’ surfaces, as well as studio shots that offer an insight into Knut’s ever-evolving practice. He pushes the boundaries of illusion by incorporating new elements taken from reality, using the light and shadow in his studio to enhance the light gradients within the paintings.
