Overview

Juliette Paull is a british gestural abstract artist born in 1983, known for creating highly
evocative compositions powered by strong yet subtle brushstrokes .Precariously balanced
between abstraction and figuration, Paulls paintings engage with both the visceral and the
sublime through gesture and scale. Both vast and intimate, these are explorations into the
fragility and strength of the human condition providing us with a space to contemplate the
unfolding of time.

"It always brings me to realise that it’s possible to say what it feels like to be human, without the need to work figuratively, describe things literally. What lies at the core of my work is a desire to express the unspoken."

Paulls work deals with cycles; both internally and externally. Moments of growth studied from life and revisited in memory reveal themselves as she works intuitively. A painterly process of capsizing, uprooting, and unravelling is essential before each piece finds a ubiquitous balance. Arriving at a place that embodies a sense of visceral tenderness that touches on the deeply personal yet shared reality of our fleeting human existence . Titles often reference movement, musical phrases, and botanicals echoing the vital elements of nature, pace, rhythm and physical gesture. Capturing the essence of transformative energy lies at the core of her practice.
