Christopher Burness founded Cadogan Contemporary 1980, after several years as a publisher of specialist books and travel guides. The first gallery opened on Pont Street before moving to Draycott Avenue, where during 20 years he developed an international clientele and earned royal patronage. In 2007, the gallery moved to its current premises on the Old Brompton Road. Throughout the years, Christopher has developed strong and lasting relationships with both artists and collectors, representing many like Sargy Mann and Deborah Tarr for several decades.
