The first international branch of the English Cadogan Gallery opens in Milan
ACTIVE IN LONDON FOR OVER 40 YEARS, THE CONTEMPORARY ART GALLERY LANDS IN A MILANESE SPACE. WHICH, HOWEVER, RECALLS THE ONE FROM WHICH IT ALL BEGAN
An important family-run English gallery opens a space in the heart of Milan. We are talking about a staple in the world of contemporary art, the Cadogan Gallery in London. Distinguished by the support of the work of emerging, mid-career and established artists, and by a constant commitment to nurturing relationships woven over 40 long years with collectors and artists from all over the world, the gallery was born in 1980 with a first gallery in the British capital, moving from Pont Street to Draycott Avenue, and then arriving in the prestigious district of South Kensington, in Old Brompton Road. After opening a temporary space for special projects in Hampshire, today Cadogan reaches a more international perspective by opening its first foreign office in the center of the Lombard capital.
THE NEW CADOGAN GALLERY HEADQUARTERS IN MILAN
Starting from spring 2023, in via Bramante 5 , Cadogan will inaugurate the new space with an approach focused on the valorisation of individual artists and a clear aesthetic identity, within a place where not only to show works by artists who grew up with the gallery, like the Italian Gabriele Cappelli , but also the new generations. Bright and typically Milanese, the space that rises a few meters from the ADI – Design Museum is “designed and purpose-built to host an extensive schedule of exhibitions ” and “will highlight the works of artists who have grown up with us since the gallery was founded, as well as featuring both well-established artists and up-and-coming talents new to Cadogan," stressed Freddie Burness, gallery director and son of founder Christopher.
A MILAN AREA FOR CADOGAN GALLERY
Cadogan's new home is a connection point between the city and the gallery's roots. “With its light-filled courtyard ,” Burness emphasized, “ distinctive Milanese architectural features and modern aesthetics, this new space will allow us to display works in the same spirit as the London venue, albeit in a different and ambitious way. After many years of hard work, we are excited to take this new step forward: we chose Milan because we think it is currently one of the most important places in the international art world, full of potential for the future."
