Sam Lock – CARTA
An unshown series of works by the English artist Sam Lock (b.1973) inaugurates the new headquarters, the first international one, of Cadogan Gallery in London.
The title of the exhibition, Carta , refers to the medium chosen by the artist: on faded pages from a discarded collection of art books and glued onto the canvas to compose a grid, Lock intervenes with abstract signs, apparently uniform, yet one different from each other, with minimal variations in color and shape. In an overlap between past and present, between the names of the ancient masters printed on the faded pages and the artist's pictorial intervention, fragile and dancing compositions come to life.
