This catalogue, published in conjunction with Richard Hearns’s second solo exhibition with the gallery in 2021, showcases a series of paintings entitled Enclave that are centred around the concepts of multicultural belonging, identity and traditions of exploration. Throughout the catalogue, photographs of the paintings situated in the wild landscape of The Burren National Park in Ireland highlight just how embedded natural phenomena are in Hearns’s practice, as each work in the series was conceived as an extension of the physical surroundings. The catalogue also features an essay by scholar and art advisor Raphy Sarkissian who reads the dynamic and gestural expression of the series as a tribute to the legacy of Abstract Expressionism.
