This catalogue accompanied Ansel’s fourth solo exhibition at Cadogan in 2020, which explored her continuing exploration of the themes and compositions of Old Master Paintings through a contemporary lens. The catalogue features an essay written by American novelist Rick Moody, in which he analyses Ansel’s approach to negotiating the patriarchal history of art by replacing the pleasure of voyeurism in canonical masterpieces with the dignity of light and pigment.
