Gabriele Cappelli : New Paintings

Cadogan Contemporary are delighted to present a new collection of work by the Italian painter, Gabriele Cappelli. We have represented Cappelli for 8 years and this will be his third exhibition with us. His work is collected widely and is in private collections here in the UK, Europe and in the US.

The new body of work exemplifies Cappelli's distinct style and is an embodiment of the collective aesthetic sense that we both share. His paintings distil Classical aesthetic concepts and modernist abstract forms. Clean and powerful, his sculptural compositions of soft and bold colours generate a sense of a universal aesthetic language. His use of paint is also very unique. Using pure unadulterated oil paint, the surface of his paintings have a true richness and smoothness to their surface. This, along with the effortlessly flowing lines in their composition, combine to evoke classical themes that form the basis of so much of Italian art over the centuries.
