EDOARDO DIONEA CICCONI

“XYZT”

Addressing universal themes in an interactive way, Edoardo Dionea Cicconi finds synthesis between art and science, investigating the concept and perception of "time". The title of the series "XYZT," which deciphers as a code, has a specific meaning: "XYZ" is for SPACE (the axis of a grid), plus "T" for TIME. The mirrored surface on the front is a straight and sharp surface with a peculiarity: at times, it reflects reality by distorting it. The image flexes and then returns to its initial appearance.

These "kinetic mirrors" actually move, catching the viewer by surprise, whose image becomes distorted, disappears, and then reappears. Like a sort of black hole, where everything becomes dense inside and where, even today, no one knows where this totality will end up. The installation has a dual identity achieved through different uses of lights. The 'second stage' of the installation will be revealed on April 10th. A mesmerizing beam of light that from the ceiling appears to be sucked into the artwork like a black hole and will be reflected on the other wall, creating a visual experience of the event horizon.

Biography

Gabriele Cappelli (b. 1972 Forli, Italy) discovered art at a young age. Frequent trips to Rome to visit his grandfather, an architect and designer, brought him into contact with painting, an experience that is still a central part of his practice as an artist. Cappelli moved to London in 1997 and it was here that he decided to pursue his work as an artist, inspired by the YBA movement. Cadogan has represented Gabriele Cappelli for over ten years. His work is collected widely and is held in private collections in the UK, Europe and the US.
